EPISODE SUMMARY
My guest today earned an MFA in Creative Writing & Writing for the Performing Arts from the University of California Riverside at the age of 40. She went on to teach playwriting and theatre courses at her alma mater for the next 17 years. Her fiction and non-fiction have appeared in journals such as Hip Mama, Faultline, Inlandia, and Cherry Tree. She is also a playwright and has had over a dozen plays produced. Her debut novel, The Shinnery, is set in West Texas in the 1890s and is inspired by a family secret and her great-great grandfather’s trial for murder. She lives in her hometown of Riverside, California, in a hundred-year-old bungalow with her husband and pets–a geriatric poodle and a beloved tuxedo cat. Welcome to Authors Over 50, Kate Anger.
